GAVIN CROMWELL
Welcome to Gavin Cromwell Racing, a trainer with a difference.
Gavin Cromwell is a trainer with a difference. A farrier by trade he has shod Gold Cup and Grand National winning horses along with an Olympic Gold Medalist. He took out a Training licence in 2005. His farrier skills are a passion and a trade that he is still very much in demand for by some of the biggest operations in the sport.
Gavin started, like many, as a stable lad with ambition and drive. Experience gained abroad in Australia and at home with the likes of the late and great Dessie Hughes have stood to him when striving for excellence and that shows in his operation with the results he has achieved.
Ever since Arresting landed his first success on the track it’s been a wonderful journey with high profile winners under both codes of flat and jumps racing.
Since starting out, his operation has grown significantly and continues to rise through the ranks with a superb team in place at the yard in Danestown, Balrath, Co Meath.
With a handful of horses under Gavin’s trademark attentive care, he landed the 100k Irish Cambridgeshire with Sretaw at the Curragh in 2014. It is no surprise to anyone that knows Gavin that he has continued to prosper and trained Jer’s Girl to win back to back Grade 1 hurdles in 2016. He landed the Welsh Grand National in early 2018 with 13 yo Raz De Maree, a great training performance with the veteran. In October 2018 he landed the Group 2 Prix De Royallieu with Princess Yaiza on Arc weekend in Longchamp for his biggest flat success. Just 5 months later he landed his biggest national hunt success when the ill-fated Espoir D’Allen romped to victory in the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle.
Perfectly positioned for runners at home and abroad and an appetite to find more success, it’s a perfect opportunity to be involved with one of the hidden gems in the Irish training ranks.
